Tsukiji Fish Market (7) The end

The end of a hard days work until it starts all over again super early tomorrow!

The final product for sale.

This is actually shaved fish, using a machine, looks like wood shaving but is fish shavings and tastes good.

A cupful of little baby fish somethings!!!

Tsukiji Fish Market (6) Breakfast

After that early morning start anyone for breakfast with my friendly sushi man???

Tsukiji Fish Market (5)

There's so much more than just tuna!!!

Tsukiji Fish Market (4)

Tsukiji Fish Market (3)

Using large electric knives the cutting process begins.
It takes 2 men to perfectly line the fish up to make the cut in exactly the right place.
The cutting process is fast and efficient whilst the fish is still frozen.
Fish that is not frozen is cut using the longest, sharpest knives!!!
Great care is taken to inspect the quality of the fish to aid in determining the price to sell at.

Tsukiji Fish Market (2)

Motorised or manual trolleys zip around, super fast, delivery the fish to the vendors.
Visitors need to be mindful of not getting in the way and definitely no touching of the fish.
This is hard physical work and the fish need to be processed quickly to avoid any deterioration in the meat quality.

Tsukiji Fish Market Tokyo

Once the alarm went off at 4:15am I bounded out of bed to catch the first train at 4:57am.
Arrived 6:10am at the Tsukiji Fish Market just after the auction. This is a working, fast paced, extremely busy, amazing place. Tourist areas are restricted.
The huge tuna have been flash frozen. Seemed like thousands of them covered the floor.
Once the auction ended the fish are distributed, it takes 2 men to lift the fish.
I have no idea of the prices but they don't come cheaply.

Great Bike shop

This could quite possibly be the very, very best bike shop I have ever been to. 3 levels - road, MTB, folding, touring and all the accessories BUT very very difficult to find a staff member who speaks more than a few words of english. That makes it hard to ask questions about features and specs. Well, can't have it all.
