I treated myself to a night in the Wakkani Youth Hostel and the kind man upgraded me. I have a room and bathroom to myself.
Lovely to sleep in crisp clean sheets in a bed!!!!
Have decided to catch the ferry to Rishiri Island so I've split my gear in two. One part to stay in the locker at the ferry terminal the other to come with me to the islands.
The guys securely tie my bike in and we set sail for Oshidomari (Rishiri island). Great views of Rishiri-zan 1712 meters, a near perfect cinder cone rising like a miniature Mt Fuji.
Set up camp at Hokuroku. There's no bears and no snakes on the islands so it's great camping in the forest.
The savage black crows are stalking my food!!!
