Whilst packing up the tent I met Ruth and David (from Australia). They are trekking. We all head for the ferry over to Ruben Island.
On the ferry I meet up with Ruth, David and the Osaka walking club. More offering of food.
Off the ferry and cycling along the coast, more seals or sea lions basking on the rocks. And I can see the Russian island - Sakhalin in the distance. Camp at Lake Kushu. Ruth and David arrive by bus and we agree to go hiking together for the day.
Fantastic wild flowers, Cape Sukoton - which is fact the norther most tip of Japan. Really spectacular, misty, cloudy, windy and lots of fun. We eat sea weed flavoured ice cream. Learn that the most expensive sea weed comes from deeper in the ocean where the water is cleaner. Great onsen then dinner at the Japanese pub.
